You will find Sulfates in most of your household products like cleaners and detergents. In shampoo they are better known as Sodium Lauryl Sufate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate. The purpose of the sulfates is to create a lathering effect to remove oil and dirt from your hair, but unfortunately in the process it strips your hair of its natural oils too, which in turn leads to dry hair and a sensitive, itchy scalp.
Why should I use sulfate-free shampoo?
Well, if you are prone to sensitivity with regards to your hair and scalp you might not really have a choice! Sulfate free shampoos are mush gentler. Also, if you colour treate your hair, you might want to consider going the sulfate free route as it won’t dry your hair out as much as sulfate shampoo would, and since it is much gentler it is less likely that it would wash out your hair dye.
Where can I find sulfate-free shampoo?
The answer is, right here! Not only did we leave the sulfate and preservatives out, we here at Honeysuckle put some really great products in!
Honey | Propolis | Beeswax | Rooibos
As an emollient, HONEY seals moisture in your hair, keeping it conditioned. It prevents damage through its antioxidant properties, and strengthens the hair follicles, curbing hair fall and by doing this keeps your scalp and hair healthy. Then of course it is antiseptic and antibacterial too.
ROOIBOS contains minerals such as zinc, calcium, copper and potassium which are essential for hair growth. Its active ingredients help remove dead skin cells that block hair follicles and prevent hair from growing. Rooibos also contains polyphenols (antioxidants) to promote shiny and soft hair.
PROPOLIS, another hidden gem from the hive, is widely known as a hair re-growth product by promoting the growth of cells that contribute to hair growth.
All the beeswax styling products aside, BEESWAX is also a good agent to speed up hair growth and help you stop losing hair as quickly.
